Your Questions, Answered
-
I offer counselling sessions to suit individuals, couples and families.
Counselling sessions provide a safe space to explore whatever it is that you would like to bring into the session. If you are unsure what you need or what direction you want to go in, that is also perfectly fine! We can explore that together too.
-
Getting started is simple. Reach out through our contact form or book in a session to meet each other and see what a session is like and if it aligns with you.

Straight away you will see that I am authentic and non-judgemental. I love to have a laugh and have a knack for asking the right questions that allow you to tap into your heart and let out the things that need to be expressed.
I am honest about being a real person who also has their own struggles and experiences. Sometimes, I may use lived experience to share insight and suggestions that you may also connect with. I am there to walk alongside you and support your exploration whilst cheering you on, along with providing a safe space to land when things don’t go the way you planned.
I know how important the relationship is with your counsellor so I believe you will know after the first session whether I am the right counsellor for you.

Collaborative, honest, and supportive. I am here to help guide the process, bring ideas to the table, and maintain focus on ways to improve your wellbeing and relationships.
I draw upon counselling modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Strengths Based, Person Centred and Trauma Informed Practice.
For couples counselling, I draw upon Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Relational Life Therapy.

Psychologists are registered professionals trained to diagnose and treat mental health disorders, while Counsellors provide supportive, short- to medium-term guidance for personal and emotional issues without formal diagnosis.
Counsellors still work with people who have diagnosed mental health disorders but I would recommend a Psychologist if you are struggling with severe mental health symptoms.

Counselling sessions are not covered by Medicare. While the Australian Counselling Association, along with other advocates, are working to bring counselling services under Medicare, you will currently not receive a Medicare Rebate for a counselling appointment.
The total session cost for counselling is usually similar to the gap (amount after you claim the Medicare rebate) you will pay for a psychologist, often less. Another bonus with counselling is you don’t need to go to the GP to get a Mental Health Care Plan or require any referral.
Unfortunately, I do not currently have a provider number so you will not be able to claim counselling sessions with me through private health insurers.
